MainStage and Ableton worship keys, answered

Are there MainStage patches here?

Yes. Todd Locke’s Logic & MainStage Keys Presets come with Logic Pro and MainStage channel strip settings and patch files, plus a Logic Pro session. Todd plays keys for Lauren Daigle and music directed her sold-out solo tour, A Night with Lauren Daigle. The sounds cover a range of styles, so treat them as starting points for your set.

How do I load patches into MainStage?

First update MainStage and download its whole Sound Library, because several of the sounds need Apple’s samples. Save a copy of your concert with File > Save Concert As. Then open your concert, click Edit, drag only the .patch files (not the sample folders) from 3 - Patches onto the Patch List, and choose File > Save. Full steps are in our Logic & MainStage guide.

How should I set up a MainStage concert for worship?

A MainStage concert is laid out as Concert, then Sets, then Patches, and a lot of keys players keep one patch list per setlist. You don’t need to start over: our patch files drop onto the Patch List of the concert you already use.

How do I load the Ableton racks?

Back up your User Library, then copy the 1 - Presets folder from your download into its Presets folder, and the racks show up under User Library. Put your piano or synth on a MIDI track and drag the rack ending in FX after it. Full steps are in our Ableton Live guide.

Which version of Ableton Live do I need?

Live Standard or Suite. Our racks use Glue Compressor, so Live Intro won’t do. Racks saved in a newer Live won’t open in an older one, so update Live before you load them. Live runs on Windows, but the Pro Keys racks use Mac Audio Unit plugins, and those won’t load on Windows.

Do I need third-party plugins?

Not for every pack. Todd Locke’s Logic & MainStage pack uses only the stock instruments in Logic Pro and MainStage, and Christopher Wohrle’s Ableton Stock Keys Presets use only Ableton Live’s stock plugins. His Ableton Pro Keys Presets need Waves, Soundtoys and Valhalla plugins. Either way you need your own copy of the app the pack is built for, so check each pack’s page before you buy.

Are there free worship keys presets for Ableton?

Yes. Christopher Wohrle’s Ableton Stock Keys Presets are free. You get an Instrument Rack and an Effects Rack for a piano and an upright sound, built only with Ableton Live’s stock plugins. Christopher plays keys for Bethel Music.

Do Omnisphere and Keyscape presets work in MainStage?

Yes. Omnisphere and Keyscape presets work in any host that runs those plugins, MainStage and Ableton Live included. Todd Locke’s Omnisphere 2 pack also comes with Logic Pro and MainStage channel strip settings and patch files, so you can take his sounds into your next show. It needs your own copy of Omnisphere.
